Meet the Scientist Lecture Series presents:Sustainable Living – Acting today to preserve Tomorrow
The Taras Oceanographic Foundation and the Environmental Research and Field Studies Academy of Jupiter Community High School are pleased to announce the upcoming event of their Meet the Scientist Lecture Series. The series is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Jupiter and Tequesta and the Jupiter Inlet Commission.
We continue this season on February 10, with a panel discussion on sustainable living. The panelist include Visionary and Philanthropist Dr. Hart Porsch, Emily O’Mahoney, Landscape Architect and Solar Energy user, and Dr. Stefan Harzen, Scientist and Advisor on sustainability issues to a number of leaders of international corporations in Europe and the US.
The panelists will deliver a 15-20 minute presentation: Dr. Harzen will provide an introduction into the concept of sustainability, its history and application. Dr. Porsch will speak about the need for sustainable, zero carbon and zero waste communities, and Emily O’Mahoney will share some of her experiences as an alternative energy producer.
All events are free and open to the public, and will be held from 7 to 9 pm at the auditorium of Jupiter High School at 500 North Military Trail in Jupiter.

Dec. 18: Taras Oceanographic Foundation benefit concert
At 8 p.m. on Dec. 18 at the Kravis Center’s Rinker Playhouse, slide-guitar virtuoso and two-time Grammy Award winner Roy Rogers will perform with the Delta Rhythm Kings to benefit the Palm Beach Dolphin Project and Taras Oceanographic Foundation. Taras Oceanographic presents 6th season of ‘Meet the Scientist’ lecture series
PRESS RELEASE
JUPITER, FL — (Sept. 15, 2009) —The Taras Oceanographic Foundation and the Environmental Research and Field Studies Academy of Jupiter Community High School are pleased to announce the beginning of the 6th season of their prestigious and interactive Meet the Scientist Lecture Series. The series promotes science, conservation and environmental issues and is free. For the fourth consecutive year, the Rotary Club of Jupiter and Tequesta is the proud sponsor.
The lectures are from 7 to 9 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month from October to May, except in November when it is on the first Wednesday. All are at Jupiter High School auditorium, 500 N. Military Trail. The first event is a panel discussion on Conservation – Strategies, Successes and Challenges in South Florida and around the world.
The lecture series provides a special opportunity to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the work and life of scientists. Presentations are followed by question-and-answer sessions and speakers are available for personal conversations afterwards.
